RIDGELAND — A man here was arrested and charged with a residential burglary earlier this month.

The man, Ronnie Westberry, 47, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and residential burglary, Ridgeland Police Lt. Brett Bertucci said.

According to Bertucci, on Thursday, Oct. 10, at about 4:17 p.m., Ridgeland Police were notified of a residential burglary that had occurred on Highland Drive. Detectives were dispatched to the scene and quickly identified Westberry as a suspect.

While detectives were investigating the scene, another RPD officer located Westberry loitering at a nearby business, the Harbor Freight store off of Wheatley Street, at about 5:36 p.m., Bertucci said. During the encounter, Westberry was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Bertucci said Westberry is still in custody in the Madison County Detention Center.
