Dub’s Clubs is a golfer’s go-to

In its second month of operation, Dub’s Clubs hopes to bring a bespoke golf experience to customers right out of a storefront on Dees Drive.

Owner Chris Walt describes Dub’s Clubs as more a “golf studio” than the shopping experience most people would be used to.

At his new storefront in Gluckstadt, Walt offers club fittings, repairs, golf lessons, and time on his simulator.

“This is one of the best simulators you can hit on,” he said, noting in addition to simulating a round of golf the simulator also records a variety of information to form a golfer’s “swing DNA.”

One difference from a regular golf shop or sporting goods store, is Dub’s does not have a bunch of clubs on the wall. At Dub’s Clubs, they want to have clubs made to the specifications of their customers. Walt compares the experience to that of buying a suit.

“Most people should not be buying a golf club off the rack,” Walt said. “It is not fit for them and usually you are doing yourself a disservice.”

They also offer some accessories and apparel.

In addition to the simulator, Dub’s Clubs is outfitted with a number of televisions and they sell some light snacks and beverages that include both beer and non-alcoholic selections. Walt said he wanted to capture the more social aspect of the game as well.

Walt learned to golf during his time in the United States Air Force, where he had the opportunity to play all over the world. Before he opened he was an assistant golf pro at the Country Club of Jackson.
