CANTON — Police found the body of a four-year-old autistic boy who went missing at an apartment complex here on Tuesday.

According to Canton Police Chief Otha Brown, a search party found Kaleb Jamison, 4, in a retention pond behind Building 25 of the Trails at Madison, an apartment complex off Old Jackson Road west of I-55 near Nissan.

“We ask the community to surround this family in prayer,” Brown said.

Brown said his department was called to the scene at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Brown said they found the child at about 11:15 p.m.

No foul play is expected, Brown said.

Jamison, who was autistic, wandered away from his father’s apartment, Brown said.

Several other agencies were involved in the search, including the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police Department, Gluckstadt Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, among others.
