MADISON — City officials considered a budget Wednesday that includes raises for city employees and no new taxes.

City Clerk Susan Crandall said the Fiscal Year 2025 budget would include an average three-percent raise for most city employees.

“We were able to give raises this year,” Crandall said.

The budget includes projected revenues of around $36 million and about $36 million in expenditures.

“Everything looks really good,” Crandall said.

The city’s millage rate is expected to stay at 28.8 mills, meaning city taxes will not be raised.

The budget was presented at a public hearing on Sept. 3 at the board’s last meeting. Crandall said no changes were made following the public hearing. The board was expected to approve the budget at a called meeting on Wednesday after the Journal had gone to press.
