GLUCKSTADT — Two Alabama women who said they were on their way to rehab in Louisiana were arrested earlier this month in a stolen vehicle here.

The women, Autumn Brown, 25, and Jenna Fontenot, 35, both of Guntersville, Ala., were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, Chief Barry Hale said.

According to Hale, the pair was stopped on I-55 southbound at the Gluckstadt Road Exit around 7:25 a.m. on Aug.13 in a stolen Chevrolet Suburban that was taken from a residence in Alabama.

Hale said the vehicle was initially flagged by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit.

“Thank you to the quick actions of our officers and the intel we received two more criminals were taken off the street and in jail where they belong,” Hale said.

Hale said the women claimed they were on their way from Alabama to Louisiana to go to rehab.

Both suspects were given a $30,000 bond in Gluckstadt Municipal Court that morning and remain in the Madison County Detention Center.
