Young to lead Madison Academic Options Center

Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Jason Young as principal of the Academic Options Center (AOC). Young comes to Madison County Schools from Hazlehurst City Schools, where he has served as principal of Hazlehurst High School. In 2020-2021 he was recognized as the district’s administrator of the year. 

“I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to serve Madison County Schools as principal of the Academic Options Center. I plan to continue building upon the foundation laid before me, ensuring the needs of every student are met, and being a strong advocate for what is best for children,” Young said.

“We are delighted for Mr. Young to join the Madison County Schools team and lead the AOC,” says Madison County Schools Superintendent Charlotte Seals, “Over the course of his career, Mr. Young has served as a classroom teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and lead administrator, and he brings this wealth of experience and knowledge to this new role. We look forward to the impact he will have in helping students make positive changes to succeed in school and life.”

Young and his wife Ashley, who is a teacher at Ridgeland High School, have four children. Their oldest, Ethan, is a recent graduate of Ridgeland High School, and Eva, Elliot, and Ella Jai are all current students in the Titan Zone.
