Shooting range set for Highway 51

RIDGELAND — An indoor shooting range and gun retailer is set to bring their second metro location to Highway 51 here about a year from now.

John White, an owner of Two Gun Tactical, said that they wanted to be a part of the “huge potential” for growth they saw in Ridgeland.

"Ridgeland continues to grow in both commercial and residential areas and following other big ventures like Costco and Southern Beverage we saw something we wanted to be a part of,” White said.

White said he and his partners hope to begin pouring concrete soon and look to have the building complete within a year.

“We are excited and look forward to getting open,” White said.

Two Gun Tactical already has a location on Casey’s Lane in Flowood. They sell fire arms and fire arm accessories, have a shooting range and offer a “large assortment of classes” to customers.

The location is set to go up at 287 Highway 51 next to the Dollar General. The facillity will include two classrooms, 12 “state of the art” shooting lanes and nearly twice the retail space they currently have at their Flowood location.

They have been open for about four and a half years.

Though the building was approved unanimously by aldermen, Ward 3 Alderman Kevin Holder said that he would like to see steps taken to ensure the screen on the back side of the building properly covered all mechanical systems on the roof.

Holder also mentioned that the building was not “what he expected” compared to their Flowood location but said as long as the screen along the back was properly addressed he had no problem approving the building.

The plans with Holder's recommendations were approved 6-0. Alderman-at-Large D.I. Smith was absent.
