LOST RABBIT — A new restaurant at the Town Center here was given the green light by the county on Monday.

Madison County supervisors passed a resolution granting qualified resort status to The Rabbit Hole Restaurant.

Attorney Don McGraw presented the petition before the supervisors, explaining Lost Rabbit is an area with recreational tourists given its proximity to both the Reservoir and Natchez Trace Parkway. He told supervisors that they not only received letters of support from nonprofits in the county but also 170 signatures from residents in Lost Rabbit.

District 2 Supervisor Trey Baxter said he was supporting the venture but questioned the resort status process, saying he thought the county took a back seat to the state in these instances.

McGraw said the project will have to be approved by the Legislature and the Department of Revenue, but the state asked the county to first sign off with a resolution.

Following that explanation, Baxter made the motion to approve the resolution, which was then approved unanimously.
