RIDGELAND — City officials hope a $3 million water line project can begin next summer to connect existing lines including in the recently annexed area west of I-55.

Public Works Director Alan Hart said the water distribution improvements will will complete a water line loop along West County Line Road that connects existing water lines on Highland Colony Parkway and Livingston Road. The project also includes a water line extension that will extend along County Line Road from Livingston Road to the last lot house in Ridgeland. Hart noted there are currently four or five Ridgeland residents that are currently served by Jackson water along this section of road.

He said the project is projected to cost $2.6 million and is funded 80 percent by an Environmental Protection Agency State and Tribal Assistance Grant. The city will come up with the remaining 20 percent.

The project is now in the design phase but Hart said he hopes to have that done within the next six months and hopes the installation can be complete within the next year to year and a half.
