RIDGELAND — The Planet Fitness on Lake Harbour Drive was one of four gyms in the metro cleared following bomb threats last week.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said the Mississippi Department of Homeland Security informed RPD of several bomb threats made at metro gyms. Myers said officers did a search of the Lake Harbour location and found no evidence of explosives.

“We did a sweep of the building,” Myers said. “Nothing was found so we gave the all-clear.”

He said the initial call was received at 3:15 p.m. and the gym was cleared by 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.

Bailey C. Martin, a Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman, said the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Mississippi Office of Homeland Security were made aware of the bomb threats to several gyms in the area on Thursday.

“Those locations that received the threat have been cleared and back operating under routine business operations,” Martin said. “No further threat was found at any location. Anyone with any information is urged to call their local law enforcement office or the FBI.”

Martin went on to say, “Due to this being an open investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.”

A Jackson news outlet reported the other locations searched and cleared included two in Jackson and one in Brandon.
