RIDGELAND – The annual Celebrate America Balloon Glow is returning to Northpark mall on Friday, June 30 with music, food, and other fun activities for the whole family.

Wendy Bourdin, special events coordinator for the City of Ridgeland, said the Balloon Glow is the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration, which began in 1990.

July 4th festivities kick off in Madison County in Canton on Thursday with the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest and fireworks at Madison's Liberty Park on July 3.

“People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and they will have places to set up their things and watch the balloons and entertainment,” Bourdin said. “This is also in conjunction with the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest, which will be on July 1 and 2.”

Bourdin said not only is the Balloon Glow free to the public, but the Kids’ Corner, which is open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the event, is also free this year.

“Come out and enjoy the entertainment,” Bourdin said.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m., and event participants can enjoy food vendors, the kids’ corner, and live music from DJ Trix, Mustache the Band, and the Molly Ringwalds. Temperance Babcock will share patriotic music during the fireworks show.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., families can enjoy 15 different hot air balloons lighting up the sky along with a fireworks show at the end of the night.

Fireworks begin at 9:35 p.m., and Temperance Babcock will end the night with their patriotic music performance during the fireworks.

Admission is free.
