Freshman Representative Jonathan McMillan (R – Madison) introduced House Bill 1257 to the Mississippi House of Representatives marking his first time speaking from the well in the House Chamber.

The bill would clarify the maximum fee permitted for a notary public and authorize certain qualified nonresidents to be commissioned as a notary public. HB 1257 passed 103-15. Representative McMillan’s district covers a portion of Madison County.

He is the Vice-Chairman of the House Forestry Committee, and he is a member of the following committees: Business and Commerce, Conservation and Water Resources, Energy, Transportation, and Workforce Development
