Lou’s Full Serv leaving Belhaven, relocating to Ridgeland

RIDGELAND — Lou’s Full-Serv will close its Jackson location at the end of the month and consolidate the restaurant with their sandwich shop here, chef and owner Louis LaRose said.

After about 10 years in Belhaven, LaRose announced last week the Jackson restaurant would close on Sept. 28.

“As we approach our 10-year anniversary, we’ve been reflecting on how grateful we have been for the support and love you all have shown us in supporting our dreams over this last decade,” LaRose said. “It has been our pleasure to serve the Belhaven area for the last 10 years, and this spot will always hold a piece of our hearts.” 

LaRose said operating in the restaurant industry has been a struggle for the past four years or so.

“It is not one thing,” LaRose said. “Just the overall struggle.”

LaRose said his lease at 904 E. Fortification Street was up in December anyway and they have decided to get out of that lease early rather than renew it.

Lou’s Southern Sandwich Co. in Ridgeland will be closing briefly beginning Sept. 28 for renovations, LaRose said. 

The renovations are expected to take about 10 days and the restaurant will reopen in the second week of October as Lou’s Full Serv.

Work includes converting the counter where customers order into an extension to their bar.

LaRose said the Sandwich Co. has been growing specifically in their lunch offerings and the catering side of the business, but he thinks combining the two restaurants will drum up more night business for the Ridgeland location.

“We love this location and see it as having the very best potential to continue the Lou’s Full-Serv brand,” LaRose said. “To accomplish this, we would like to pivot our focus back to one restaurant and have made the decision to merge our two businesses.” 

The sandwich shop opened in August 2023 at The Township on the Highland Colony Parkway.

LaRose said he is excited about offering their full-service restaurant dining options on their outdoor patio in Ridgeland.
