A crash on I-55 in Madison County that sent one man to the hospital after a high-speed chase into Madison County from Holmes County, the authorities said.

“The crash and pursuit remain under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol,” MHP Spokesman Kervin Stewart said.

Stewart said the incident started on Friday, April 29, around 10 a.m., when a trooper stopped a silver BMW on the northbound side of Interstate 55 near the 148-mile marker in Holmes County.

The BMW fled the scene after the driver was identified as 34-year-old Carl Hall of Memphis. Stewart said Hall had multiple felony warrants.

The trooper pursued the car north to Vaiden and then south to Madison County, where the driver crashed into a tractor-trailer near the 121-mile marker.

The driver of the BMW was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with severe injuries. Stewart reported the driver of the tractor-trailer and an infant passenger of the BMW were not injured in the crash.

Hall remains in the hospital. Stewart said that once he is released he will be transported to the custody of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department.
