GLUCKSTADT — A puppy was rescued here last week in a house fire on Yandell Road.

“Nobody was injured,” Division Chief Dustin Perry said. “Our guys did a good job.”

GFD responded to a structure fire at the residence on Wednesday, June 5, at about 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, Engine 3 reported some smoke and made entry, according to Perry.

Once inside they found the kitchen and the hallway ablaze. Firefighters worked quickly to put the fire out and kept the blaze contained in the kitchen and hallway area.

“They did a really good job keeping that fire contained,” Perry said.

After knocking down the fire, firefighters noticed something small moving in the kitchen and realized it as a startled puppy.

Firefighters quickly removed the puppy from the burning home and administered oxygen.

“The family was really happy to see their dog,” Perry said. “After we got him oxygen he was doing good and was not injured.”
