David Franklin McNamara, age 87, of Ridgeland passed away November 23, 2021 at his home with family members beside him. 

Born in Atlanta, GA on June 5, 1934, David was the fourth of five children in the family of Arvella "Peggy" Harrell McNamara and John James McNamara, Jr.  David attended St. Joseph Academy through 12 years, graduating in 1952. While in high school, he and his twin brother Daniel excelled in sports, especially football, resulting in a joint football scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. After graduating ND with a B.S. in Commerce in 1956, and completing the Air Force R.O.T.C. Program, he served his country for three years as a commissioned officer in the Auditor General Division of the United States Air Force. 

On September 7, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Angie Miller, and they lived at Larson Air Force Base, Moses Lake, WA while he was serving in the military. Following his discharge in 1960, they returned to Jackson to live and raise their family. David began employment at First National Bank, and in 1965 he was employed as an auditor for several companies. Then beginning in 1967 he found his life's work in the medical supply sales and service field with McNees Medical Supply Company. After working in this business for several other companies, he helped found Healthcare Suppliers, Inc. in 1983 serving as President. 

With his twin brother, he founded McNA+MED, Inc. in 1997, which they owned and operated until 2011. Appointed by Governor Haley Barber, David has served on the Mississippi Hospital Equipment And Facilities Authority until the present, The St. Dominic Health Services Foundation Board, was a volunteer through St. Richard Church at The Stew Pot and Habitat for Humanity, and was on the St Joseph Alumni Board in the 90's. Since 1960 he has been a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, serving early on as a teacher in the CYO Program, a member of the Parish Council, Community Leader at Sunday Mass, and a faithful member of Coffee and Creed Sunday School Class.  

A founding member of the River Hills Club, David served as President of the Board in 1977. For a number of years he participated in tournament tennis, the highlight being ranked #1 in the State of Mississippi in the Senior 45 Clay Court Singles in 1980. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John James McNamara III, and his beloved twin who died this year, Daniel McNamara. 

David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Angela Miller McNamara; sons, David McNamara, Jr. (Susan Bee) and Will McNamara (Jamie Gardner); and daughters Julie McNamara and Mary Ellen McNamara McMillon (Mike) of Collierville, TN. Also surviving are grandchildren Catharine Hammett Harris (Garrett), John Bee McNamara, Miller McNamara (Ann Louise), Ellen Kent Hammett Pitre (Ryan), Warren Hammett, III, Kent McNamara, Addison McNamara, and Alden McNamara; and four wonderful great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of the Resurrection November 29, 2021 at St. Richard followed by burial in the Church Columbarium. Memorials may be made to the St. Richard Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1242 Lynwood Dr., Jackson, MS 39206; St. Joseph Catholic High School, 308 New Mannsdale Road, Madison, MS 39110, or a Charity of your choice.
