RIDGELAND — Patio seating is coming to Aplόs in front of the Malco Theater at the Renaissance, according to architectural drawings recently reviewed and approved by the city.

“We are real excited about Aplόs coming to the Renaissance,” said Mayor Gene F. McGee.

During last Tuesday’s regular meeting, Public Works Director Alan Hart presented drawings to aldermen that show outdoor patio seating

Hart said the Architectural Review Board had already approved the site plans and recommended approval as well.

“I think it will be a nice addition,” Hart said.

Aplόs is a fast-fine Mediterranean restaurant whose cuisine focuses on casual eateries found throughout Italy, Greece and the Middle East.

The popular Mediterranean eatery in Jackson will open a sister restaurant at the Renaissance at Colony Park, founder and CEO Alex Eaton had announced. The restaurant hopes to open this summer.

The Renaissance location will include seating for between 150 and 200 diners and will also include carryout and delivery options. Eaton said takeout has been a big part of the Jackson business.

He expects to hire a staff of about 50 employees and hopes to work with local schools to offer opportunities for students to work in his restaurants.
