Warrant issued for man who flipped car at Renaissance

RIDGELAND — A Winona man is wanted on drunk driving charges in connection with an incident this summer at the Renaissance where the car he was driving went airborne and ended up on top of two other vehicles.

The man has been identified as Robert Emlyn Herring of Winona, according to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers.

The warrant for Herring was issued on Aug. 18. after Mississippi Crime Lab results confirmed Herring was intoxicated at the time of the accident. 

The warrant is for driving under the influence-first offense in the incident that happened on July 9 at about 1 p.m.

Lt. Eddie Addison of the Ridgeland Police Department said they first received calls of a reckless driver on I-55. 

Officers were looking for the driver when emergency calls came in about an accident at Zea Rotisserie and Bar at the northwestern corner of the Renaissance at Colony Park.  

“When we arrived at the accident,” Addison said. “We realized that the car we were looking for was the one involved in the accident.”  

Herring was the only person involved in the accident and was transported to a hospital.  

Officers then got a warrant for his blood and had it drawn at the hospital and had to wait for the results.
