Veterans to be honored at separate events

Veterans Day celebrations in Madison County include a ceremony at Ridgeland City Hall on Saturday and a reception at Madison Central for veterans.

Brigadier General Parker Hills (Ret.), U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard will be the keynote speaker for this year’s event in Ridgeland.

The Veterans Day Celebration will be held outside of City Hall on School Street in the Veterans Memory Park, which includes benches and plaques commemorating the six branches of service. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Nov. 11.

The Veteran’s Day Celebration includes keynote remarks by Hills; remarks and welcome by Mayor Gene McGee and Colonel John McCollum; Presentation of Colors by the Ridgeland High School AFJROTC Color Guard; music by the Ridgeland High School Choir and the 41st Army Band of the Mississippi Army National Guard.

The event is open to the public to attend

The Madison Central High School PTO is hosting its annual Veterans Day Ceremony and reception on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Madison Central Gym. 

Madison area Veterans and their guests are invited to attend, organizers say

The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium and there will be a reception hosted by the PTO immediately following. Veterans are welcome to sign in at the door.
