Students commended for national competition

St. Richard Catholic School welcomed its 2022 eCYBERMISSION National Champion team “Oh, Deer!” back to campus recently for a celebration of their HUGE accomplishment.

Over the summer, recent St. Richard graduates became the first Mississippi team in the 20 year history of the eCYBERMISSION program to ever win at the national level with their invention, the “Steer Deer Clear.”

The “Steer Deer Clear” is a deterrent system designed to prevent deer/automobile accidents. Under the guidance of their advisors Ashley Klein and Alan Klein, team “Oh, Deer!” identified a need and set out to design a product to solve the problem - and it worked! In addition to being greeted with thunderous cheers from St. Richard staff and students, each team member received a commendation from Governor Tate Reeves.
