St. Joseph Catholic School seniors Andrew Doherty and Lockard Williams have been named finalists in the 69th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that began in 1955 and is administered by the private, non-profit National Merit Scholarship Corp. The program is expected to award more than 7,000 National Merit Scholarships.

More than 1.3 million juniors in 21,000 high schools entered the National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists includes high scoring entrants in each state.

St. Joseph Catholic School, founded in 1870 by the Sisters of Mercy, offers seventh- through 12th-grade students of all faith backgrounds a rigorous college prep curriculum grounded in the teachings of the Catholic Church.

St. Joe, 308 New Mannsdale Road in Madison just west of the Interstate 55-Mississippi 463 interchange, is accredited by the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – the accrediting arm of Cognia.
