RIDGELAND — Due to inflation and a recent increase in Waste Management costs, trash collection and recycling fees have gone up here.

City Clerk Paula Tierce said garbage went from $13.75 to $15.54 and Recycling went from $5.85 to $6.23. The change was approved on Sept. 5 when the Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

“It has been approximately 10 years since the last increase for trash and recycling,” Tierce said.

The new prices went into effect on Oct. 1.

Tierce also noted that Ridgeland offers a Recycling Rewards Program available to residents at RidgelandRecycleRewards.com.

There has been no increase in charges for water services, According to Tierce. She said higher bills could be due to increased usage related to the droughts in recent months.

“The City of Ridgeland provides the highest rated water quality in the state of Mississippi to everyone within Ridgeland’s Certificated Area,” Tierce said.
