A Ridgeland company has acquired Canton’s Hampton Inn and the facility will undergo renovations, the owners said.

Sunny Desai, CEO of Desai Companies, announced on behalf of Desai Capital Partners the acquisition on Feb. 13.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Hampton Inn Canton to the DHG family,” Desai said. “We believe that the Hampton Inn Canton will be a valuable asset, and we extend our gratitude to our investors for their ongoing support and confidence in our company”

Desai Companies Marketing Manager Sofia Avila said this marks the 11th property in the DCP portfolio and the third in the metro Jackson area. They currently have the aforementioned Hampton Inn Canton and the Hampton Inn & Suites in Ridgeland.

“The Hampton Inn will be fully renovated by Desai Design and Construction and the property, located just off Interstate 55 will be well-positioned as Canton’s premier hotel,” Avila said.

Avila said she is not sure when the renovations will begin but said they will take place in phases over the next 18 months to ensure no interruption of service during the renovation period.

The Hampton Inn Canton is a 4-story building with 80 rooms and amenities such as a fitness center, breakfast area, pet-friendly rooms, and an outdoor pool, among others.

“We typically receive guests visiting Jackson State University and are able to supply the demands thanks to the nearby Nissan and Amazon plants,” she said.

Desai said this acquisition also expands the portfolio of Desai Hotel Group, a hotel management company, which specializes “in managing upscale select-service brand hotels.”

“Throughout its 13 years in operation, DHG has successfully managed a portfolio of over 13 hotels and is excited to expand to the city of Canton,” Desai said.
