Madison County has rescheduled a runoff in the race for the Republican nomination between Brian Flowers and Thomas Carey to face Democrat Benny Thompson for the U.S. House of Representatives 2nd Congressional District seat.

The new date for the runoff election is June 23, but the Madison County Circuit Clerk's office is already accepting absentee voting.

"The Circuit Clerk's office is open now from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday for absentee voting," Circuit Clerk Anita Wray said in a release. "In addition, we will be open on Saturday, June 13 and June 20 from 8 a.m. to noon for your convenience."




The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, May 26.
