MADISON — A Vicksburg man arrested here on felony shoplifting charges is also wanted in multiple other jurisdictions.

The man, Colby M. Ashley, 37, has been charged in Madison with one count of felony shoplifting, according to Madison Police Capt. Kevin Newman.

After his initial appearance in Madison Municipal Court on Feb. 1, Ashley was released to the custody of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for additional charges in that jurisdiction.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, at about 7:15 p.m. Madison Police officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on a vehicle that had been reported to have possibly been involved in earlier shoplifting incidents in Flowood.

Investigation by officers determined that stolen merchandise valued at about $745 from the Madison Lowes store was in the stopped vehicle.

During the investigation, further information was obtained from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office that the subject may have also been involved in auto burglary incidents in that jurisdiction.

A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and evidence was found that was involved in the Warren County auto burglaries.
