Republican Shelton Vance announced today that he is a candidate for Madison County Tax Collector. Vance has more than three decades of experience successfully managing and protecting tax dollars.

Vance is a Certified Public Accountant and currently serves as director of accounting for a local manufacturing company.  He most recently served as the Administrator for Madison County and served as the County’s Comptroller. In addition to his service in Madison County, he served as the director of audit and compliance at the Mississippi Department of Revenue. He is also an adjunct professor at Millsaps College.

“Following decades of service to Madison County and to the State of Mississippi in the financial arena, I believe that my qualifications have prepared me well to become Madison County’s next Tax Collector,” stated Vance.

Vance added, “More than $175 million flows through the tax collector’s office so it is important that we elect someone who has multiple skill sets to manage and protect your tax dollars.”

Vance concluded, “As your tax collector, I will enhance the tools to safeguard your tax dollars; provide efficient and effective service; and ensure the tax collector’s office is available to address your needs.”

Vance is married to Marsha Stovall Vance and they have 2 children.  Vance has lived in Madison County for 25 years.

The Republican Primary is August 8.
