Man wanted on drug charges arrested

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on a drug warrant earlier today at a Canton apartment complex after a standoff, authorities say.

MCSO spokesman Heath Hall said they arrested Marcus Anderson earlier today around 1:15 p.m. on a warrant for cocaine possession at Lula B. Covington Apartments on Holmes Avenue in Canton.

“He initially barricaded himself in an apartment at Lula B," Hall said. “He surrendered to law enforcement and is in custody.”

Hall said deputies attempted to serve the arrest warrant to Anderson. Hall said Anderson is also wanted by MDOC for a probation violation.

Hall said MCSO was initially called to the scene at 11:20 a.m.
