MADISON — A Jackson man has been arrested and charged in connection with several burglaries here.

The man, Edward Earl Brown, 34, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted burglary, felon in possession of a weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Madison Police Lt. Micah Taylor said.

“Investigators will be following up with Rankin/Madison District Attorney’s Office concerning prior arrests for house burglary,” Taylor said.

According to Taylor, on Friday, Sept. 27, at 4:03 a.m., MPD officers responded to Calumet Drive concerning a man on the back porch of a residence.

“The homeowner had also observed the male individual around a vehicle at the residence,” Taylor said.

Once patrol units arrived on the scene and established a perimeter, a second call was received in the Trace Vineyard subdivision regarding a man looking into the front door of a residence.

Taylor said that the responding officers had located Brown inside the carport. Brown was taken into custody without incident.

Brown on Wednesday remained in the Madison County Detention Center.
