A Magnolia woman has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a Jackson cyclist and prominent Ridgeland lawyer near the Nissan plant in late February.

Belinda Faye Marshall, 44, of Magnolia, was arrested this week and charged with felony hit and run.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Kervin K. Stewart said that around 6:15 p.m., on the evening of Tuesday, March 9, Marshall was arrested in Madison County, involving the hit and run death of Robert Walker on Feb. 23, on Nissan Drive.

Walker has been taken to the Madison County Detention Center.

“This accident is still an ongoing investigation,” Stewart said.

Robert H. Walker, 74, an attorney at Wells Marble & Hurst, was fatally injured in the accident reported at 6:42 p.m. Feb. 23 on Nissan Drive just south of Canton not far from the automobile assembly plant, according to Stewart.

Walker enjoyed two things most of all, his obituary said, “spending time with his family (especially his four grandchildren) and cycling with his friends.”

Stewart said MHP investigators determined that Walker was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was riding his bicycle on Nissan Drive near Ragsdale Road just outside of Canton.

They determined that the vehicle left the scene traveling south on Nissan Drive.
