Madison Chick-fil-A closing May 16 for remodeling

MADISON — Chick-fil-A is closing Tuesday for a drive-thru remodeling that is expected to last the rest of the month.

The restaurant will be closed for the remodeling starting May 16 and is set to re-open June 1, said operator Chris Rosson.

The remodeling will add more space to the “drive-thru cockpit,” Rosson said, to make things easier for employees, and to keep up with increaed drive-thru traffic since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rosson said while dining room sales have declined, drive-thru sales have increased dramatically.

“Since 2020 with the COVID stuff, the dining room business has gone down a lot, and there’s more drive-thru pickup business,” Rosson said. “We’re trying to change the dynamic of the store interior to give us more workspace to help us with the drive-thru.”

The changes will make the Madison Chick-fil-A team’s job a lot easier and better for customers, Rosson said.

“The team we have at the store does a really good job and they work extremely hard,” Rosson said.

The remodeling will help customers as well as his team. “I’m looking to make their jobs easier so they can be more productive and be happier with what they’re doing,” he said.

The drive-thru workspace will be increased with a larger door leading to the outside — just like the Ridgeland location on the Highland Colony Parkway.

Rosson said they are making the changes “so we can get food outside to the cars quicker.”

While they are adding a door to the drive-thru, they unfortunately don’t have the real estate to add another drive-thru lane like the Ridgeland location. “Hopefully that will be balanced out with this door and added workspace inside,” he said.

The Madison location averages about 150 cars an hour in the drive-thru during peak hours, and they are hoping to get that number up to about 175 to 200 cars per hour after the remodeling, Rosson said.

The dining area will lose about two tables due to the larger drive-thru workspace, he said.

“The front counter will be smaller and we’re losing that dining room space, but the rest of the dining room will not change,” Rosson said.

Chick-fil-A Madison promised on Facebook Tuesday that the restaurant will be “back and better than ever” in June encouraging patrons to visit the Ridgeland location on Highland Colony Parkway.

Customers can follow the Madison Chick-fil-A Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up with the remodeling, Rosson said.

“We appreciate everyone and hope to be back open as soon as possible,” Rosson said.
