Jackson Heart Walk set for Nov. 11

The American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization focused on heart and brain health for all, is inviting Jackson-metro residents to its premier event to boost physical and mental well-being through healthy habits while supporting the lifesaving mission.

On Saturday, November 11 at 8 a.m., Heart Walk participants and teams are invited to the Mississippi Museum of Art to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise funds, and encourage physical activity.

This year’s theme, “I Walk to Save Lives,” gives Heart Walk participants a way to express, share and to be inspired by the reasons why they personally walk. Everyone has a reason to live a longer, healthier life or a reason they’re motivated to save the life of another. This year’s Metro Jackson Heart Walk is chaired by Teri Oakes Dyess, MD, FACP, FHM, Chief Medical Officer at St. Dominic Hospital and Director of Hospital Medicine.

“I’ve committed my life’s work to healthcare as a physician in hospital medicine. As a doctor dedicated to caring for patients during their time in the hospital, I see firsthand the impact that heart disease and lifestyle choices have on our loved ones. I also see the potential to find new ways to prevent and treat these conditions through research and education offered by organizations like the American Heart Association,” said Dr. Dyess.
