Handicap placards in short supply

Handicap placards in short supply

Posted

The Madison County Tax Collector’s Office is out of permanent and temporary handicap placards and is assuring residents they are working on getting new placards as soon as possible.

Madison County Tax Collector Kay Pace said the office’s ongoing solution is providing, when available, one placard per person for their entire family to use.

“Families will have to move the placard from one vehicle to another until we receive more,” Pace said. “We are not sure when that will be. The Mississippi Department of Revenue is currently waiting for a new shipment, and they will get here eventually. We’re unsure of when the new shipment will come in.

Once the shipment of new handicap placards arrives, they will be dispersed to all county tax offices.
