Fentanyl seized from man walking down 55
GLUCKSTADT — An Illinois man accused of trafficking fentanyl after he was arrested on foot along Interstate 55 here early Monday remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
The man, Dylan Scott Wetzel, 21, was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and felon in possession of a firearm, according to Gluckstadt Police Chief Barry Hale.
Gluckstadt Police first encountered Wetzel early Monday morning on foot along Interstate 55 just south of Gluckstadt Road when he attempted to flee.
Wetzel was arrested with a backpack that contained over 100 Fentanyl pills, over a pound of marijuana individually packaged, and $2,700 in cash, Hale said.
A 9 mm handgun was also recovered in the bushes after a canvass of the area, according to Hale.
Wetzel was transported to the Madison County Detention Center where he remains.
