Electrical fire causes minor damage to McAlister’s Deli on Main Street in Madison
An electrical fire caused minor damage to the McAlister’s Deli on Main Street in Madison shortly after midnight Monday morning. The direct cause of the fire is unknown.
The Madison Fire Department received a call about the fire sometime after midnight, Fire Chief Derrick Layton said.
“The fire was in the mechanical room of the restaurant. It was put out quickly within a few minutes,” Layton said. “We spent another few minutes making sure everything was put out and secure.”
Layton noted that the fire caused no significant damage to the building, but the mechanical room requires repair, along with some roof repairs since the flames went through the roof above the mechanical room.
“The repairs are in progress now,” he said. “The completion date of the repairs is unknown, but the owners hope to have the restaurant back open and in service as soon as possible.”
A call to the Madison Main Street McAlister's Deli location went unanswered late Monday morning.
