A six-year-old girl reported missing from Tennessee was found safe in Canton last Thursday with assistance from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Child Alert for Elizabeth Ledford out of Sevier County last Thursday, who was last seen on Nov. 28. TBI described the vehicle as a 2009 Nissan Versa with a Washington State license plate.

Sheriff Randy Tucker said that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations was handling the case and the vehicle was initially spotted by a Highway Patrol trooper.

“The trooper initially saw the vehicle but lost contact with it,” Tucker said.

Tucker said one of his evening shift lieutenants was nearby and saw the vehicle and made a traffic stop.

The stop was made at the Sprint Mart on West Peace Street off Highway 22.

“She was safe and healthy,” Tucker said, noting the child was upset her father was being arrested.

Tucker said he didn’t know about the specifics of the case but that he believed both father and child have since been transported back to Tennessee.
