MADISON — Data Systems Management has a new home here with plans to provide high quality services in payroll, accounting, court management, and more.

DSM owner Alan Smith took over in January and said he has been a partner with the company since 2013.

“Data Systems originally started as part of Watkins Ward and Stafford Accounting Firm in Flowood in 1983,” Smith said. “It originally branched out and became its own software company and stayed in Flowood for around 21 years. It then moved to Clinton and stayed for around 19 years, and finally we moved to Madison around two months ago.”

Madison Community Partners held a ribbon cutting for Data Systems on Sep. 27 to officially welcome them to the city. Mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler, Alderman Paul Tankerlsey and other city officials attended the ribbon cutting along with multiple DSM employees.

Smith said moving the company to Madison was a great decision since he lives in the city and it is a great central hub to entertain clients with a lot of hotels and restaurants.

“It’s quite convenient for us since Madison is located in a central part of the state and a lot of my employees live around here,” Smith said. “As far as I’m concerned, we’re home and this is where we’ll be for the foreseeable future. We plan to keep expanding and picking up more clients and cities.”

Mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler said she is honored that Data Systems chose Madison as their new home.

“We’re very proud of our community and we know the Lord plants us in places for a reason,” Hawkins-Butler said. “This company started very small and it’s grown with the technology over the years. I think them being here is a great thing and it’s absolutely wonderful.”

Data Systems Management is located at 100 Webster Circle, Suite 101 in Madison. For more information about the company, visit  www.dsm.ms.
