RIDGELAND — A popular catfish restaurant on the Reservoir closed last week to address a mainline water pipe break in their kitchen, restaurant officials said.

A statement from Cock of The Walk said they voluntarily closed on Wednesday, June 19, to address a waterline issue in their kitchen.

“On Tuesday, the health department came to do an inspection of the restaurant,” the statement says in part. “Unfortunately, just before their arrival, we had a mainline water pipe break occur in our kitchen. We voluntarily closed on Wednesday to address this issue and do a thorough deep cleaning of the restaurant.”

The restaurant, located at 141 Madison Landing Circle, said they were able to reopen at 11 a.m. the following Thursday morning with the Mississippi State Department of Health’s approval.

The restaurant claims a common “misunderstanding”  the restaurant closed after failing an inspection due to mice after photos and video circulated on social media.

According to records available on the MDH website, an inspection conducted on June 18 noted a total of three violations and gave the restaurant a ”C” rating for the inspection. Non-compliant categories included “food contact surface cleaned/sanitized”, the presence of insects and/or rodents in the kitchen, and “sewage waste water properly disposed of.”

A follow-up inspection dated June 20 lists no violations and gives the restaurant a “B” rating.
