Club opens for kid’s activities

A business that focuses on activities for small children has opened its second location in Gluckstadt.

Family Social Club owner Hallie Brand said they were having trouble finding things for their own son to do.

Hallie and her husband Gus opened the doors of the second location off of Lexington Drive last week, just a year after they founded the Family Social Club at Jackson’s Highland Village last year.

Hallie said she and Gus have lived in metro area for about 12 years after they graduated from Mississippi College. Hallie said that after their son Murphy, who is now three years old, was born, they had trouble finding activities to do.

“I think the area accommodates children ages five and up very well,” Hallie Brand said. “We saw a need in the market for the younger ones we thought we could address.”

Brand said Family Social Club is “Central Mississippi’s playspace specifically for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.” 

Family Social Club offers a space for mothers to bring their children to play and meet other small ones their age. They even offer the mother’s coffee. 

They also offer classes involving subjects like art and music for small children.

“These are things that people would probably like to do but may have trouble coordinating in their own homes,” Hallie said.

She said they have worked with close to 600 families over the course of the past year though maybe 100 of those families are represented weekly. She said the Gluckstadt location allows them to engage some of those customers who may only be able to make it to Jackson once a month.

“At Family Social Club, you’ll find daily grownup-and-me classes, Open Play Sessions in our beautiful playrooms, regular seasonal and holiday events, postpartum support and more. We also play host to private events like birthday parties and baby showers,” Hallie said.
