MADISON — Dr. Kim Brewer is excited about her new role as principal of Rosa Scott School and particularly being a part of the excellent academic and extracurricular traditions.

“I look forward to serving the faculty, students, parents, and Jaguar community,” Brewer said. “Go Jaguars!”

During her 26-year career in education, Brewer has served 12 years at the elementary school level and 14 years at the secondary level. She has worked as a teacher in Madison County Schools as well as the districtwide high school intervention strategist serving all county high schools.

Brewer has spent the past 11 years as the lead principal of Madison Avenue Upper Elementary, which has maintained an A rating on state accountability testing throughout her tenure.

Rosa Scott School also holds an A rating and is home to ninth graders in the Jaguar Zone.

Madison County Schools Superintendent of Education Charlotte Seals said Brewer is a lifelong learner who has dedicated her career in education to serving the students of Madison County.

“We are thrilled to bring her expertise and proven track record of leadership to the high school level at Rosa Scott School,” Seals said.

Brewer received a bachelor of arts and master’s of education degrees from the University of West Florida and earned her specialist degree and doctorate of education from William Carey University.

She received the Rookie Teacher of the Year award early in her career, and the Madison County Schools Administrator of the Year Award in 2016.

Over the course of her career, she has served as principal mentor for Ole Miss Principal Corps, graduated from the Prospective Superintendent Leadership Academy, received the Distinguished Principal Award, served as a member of the State Superintendent of Education Principal Advisory Council, and coordinated the mentor program for Madison County Schools National Board Certified Teachers.

Brewer and her husband Sean have three children, Abney, Macey and Hayden. She will begin serving as principal of Rosa Scott starting this summer when the current principal, Brent Cofield, retires.
