Baptist Memorial Health Care will be expanding its services into the growing Madison County market.

Baptist announced Thursday it plans to file a Certificate of Need to build a new inpatient rehabilitation facility in Madison.

The two-story facility will be a joint venture with Kindred Rehabilitation Services, a business unit of LifePoint Health.

It will be a two-story facility and measure more than 56,000 square feet on a four-acre lot in southern Madison County on the west side of Highland Way and south of the Highland Colony Parkway.

If the CN is approved, the hospital will offer comprehensive treatment and services. The services will include medicine and rehabilitation, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social services, nutrition and case management.

The joint venture will be in the neighborhood of $42 million.

“Baptist remains committed to providing quality health care to the communities we serve, which is why we want to develop this new inpatient rehabilitation hospital,” said Zach Chandler, executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Baptist Memorial Health Care.

Baptist Memorial Health Care headquartered in Memphis owns Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

“The additional services offered at this hospital will provide the community of Madison with more treatment options.”

Russ Bailey, president of Kindred Rehabilitation Services, said this was an exciting partnership for his company.

“We are excited at the possibility of expanding our partnership with Baptist and bringing best-in-class

inpatient rehabilitation services to residents in the Madison area. We believe this joint venture will greatly improve access to high-quality rehabilitative care and benefit the overall health of this community, as our hospitals have an exceptional track record

of helping patients recover from injury or illness so they can return home more independent and more capable of performing the normal activities of daily living.”

Baptist is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health care systems and the largest Medicaid provider in the region.
