Axe-throwing facility now open

A new axe-throwing facility with eight axe-throwing lanes, pool tables, and other amenities like a bar opened Wednesday in Gluckstadt.

“We are excited to be open and be a part of this community,” said Allen Cox, co-owner of Timber Tavern. “We are all from Gluckstadt and have kids and grandkids in our local schools.”

Timber Tavern hosted its grand opening on Dec. 20 at its facility located at 124 Kimball Drive.

“Our slogan is throw local, drink local,” Cox said.

Cox co-owns the business with his wife, Tracy and his son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Megan Burk. He said he and his family had been wanting to open a business in Gluckstadt for about a year now and this was something they thought could be successful.

Their facility features eight throwing lanes, pool tables, dart boards, live entertainment, and sports viewing options. They have snacks and a full-service bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.

The tavern will have expert coaches on hand to provide guidance and ensure that everyone is throwing safely and accurately.

“We will teach you the proper techniques for throwing an axe and help you perfect your aim,” Cox said.
