Andrew B. Brown III, 73, of Flowood, died on December 31, 2023 at The Arbor in Ridgeland. 

Born in Sharkey County in 1950 to A.B. and Margaret Brown, Andy and his three older siblings grew up in the farming community of Delta City. He attended Anguilla High School where he met Elizabeth White, who became his wife of 51 years. 

He attended Delta State University where he graduated in 1973 and then began his medical training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, earning his M.D in 1977. After a year’s general surgery internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Andy completed an otolaryngology residency at Duke University in 1982. With his wife and two young children, Andy returned to the Jackson area and joined the Ear Nose and Throat Surgical Group in 1982 where he enjoyed a successful career for 31 years until his retirement in 2013. 

Andy served as Chief of Staff at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, where he also served on the Board of Directors. His surgical expertise was recognized by his ENT colleagues when he was elected to serve as President of the Mississippi Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (2004—2005). 

In addition to Elizabeth, Andy is survived by two children, Keith (Ali) Brown of Ridgeland, and Lauren (Jonathan) Randle of Madison; and four grandchildren, William and Wyatt Brown, and Fiona and Ellie Randle. Andy was preceded in death by his older siblings Billie K. Chatoney, Dewey Brown, and Paul Brown; and his grandson Myles Little. 

A memorial service was held in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, on January 6, 2023. The family encourages memorial gifts to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777.
