Aldermen begin to stream meetings

GLUCKSTADT — City officials hope to keep more residents and business owners informed as they stream their meetings live.

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the city streamed its first alderman meeting.

Mayor Walter C. Morrison said they have received a “good response” and hope this helps people stay in touch with regular city meetings.

“The reaction has been very positive,” Morrison said. ‘We have gotten a lot of comments from people saying they really enjoy it.”

The city of Glcukstadt’s YouTube page, @cityofgluckstadt, has one video and 19 subscribers. By this evening they hope to have a second video up as the plan is to stream the specially called meeting.

“You can stay up to date on all city business from the comfort of your home,” an announcement on the city’s social media said.

The city also has said they have plans to stream Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, although the Jan. 23, meeting was not streamed.

Morrison said as far as he knows this costs the city nothing. He said the city already had the equipment to record audio and video of their meetings and was happy they have the personnel in place to ensure the city board meetings are streamed.
