Woman kidnapped from Nissan and murdered
A man suspected of kidnapping of a woman and dumping her dead body on the side of I-55 in Holmes County faces murder charges in Madison County.
The man, Joshua Demarshall Andrews, 29, was arrested and charged with capital murder and felon carrying a concealed weapon, Sheriff Randy Tucker said.
“This is a heinous crime that shocks the conscience of society and Andrews will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Tucker said.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 7:30 a.m. that an abduction had occurred at the Nissan manufacturing plant in Canton, Madison County Sheriff’s spokesman Heath Hall said.
Hall said the victim was found shot sometime later at the 161-mile marker of I-55 in Holmes County just about five miles north of the Durant exit.
“The victim was shot multiple times,” Hall said.
Authorities have also recovered a gun, Hall said.
The defendant will be prosecuted in Madison County and is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center, Hall said.
Tucker said multiple agencies assisted in the investigation.
“A special thank you to the Madison County District Attorney’s office, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the Mississippi Highway Patrol/Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (Greenwood Division), Nissan, and the investigators and deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office,” Tucker said.
No further information has been released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, officials said.
