Gluckstadt’s Colleen Wise was appointed to fill the vacant Madison County Justice Court District 3 position on Monday by county supervisors.
Wise fills the seat that was held by Lloyd Spivey III until his death last month.
“My husband and I live here — this is our forever home,” she said. “I’m honored to be able to serve this county I call home.”
Board of Supervisors President Gerald Steen made the motion to appoint Wise to the seat.
“We know you’re very active in the Gluckstadt community,” he said. “We think you’ll do very well in this position. Thank you for volunteering and allowing yourself to be judge.”
The motion passed 3-0, with District 1 Supervisor Casey Brannon and District 2 Supervisor Trey Baxter not present for the vote.
