We'll have great musical talents, an amazing kids area, and all the red beans and rice your gastrological system can ingest! This event is family friendly! A host of people will vie for the coveted title Best Red Beans recipe in town!

Chess Day for

kids Oct. 12



Join Mississippi Children's Museum on Oct. 12 as we celebrate National Chess Day for Kindergarten-12th grade. This 1500 year-old game has seen a resurgence in Mississippi this year and brought new life to children as they realize their potential through this strategic and challenging game. Register on site beginning at 9:00 am for one of four divisions: K-3. K-5, K-8, K-12 (K-8 & K-12 sections are USCF Rated). Current USCF Membership is required in K-8 and K-12 divisions. Registration is $15 for Tournament Participants and $5 for each accompanying adult/child. All entry fees include access to the museum exhibits for the day! Chess sets (board/pieces/clocks) will be provided for use during the tournament and trophies to be awarded to the Top 3 players in each division
