GLUCKSTADT — Two more sergeants were sworn in Tuesday night as the Police Department here continues to expand its ranks in the new Lucky City.

Gluckstadt Police Chief Wendell Watts introduced the officers, Timothy Hudson and Jeremy Slaven, at the end of the Nov. 8 meeting of the Mayor and Board of Alderman.

Hudson was sworn in first, followed by Slaven.

Watts addressed the board afterwards and reported the GPD has completed over 240 hours of training in the last month, which included body cameras, warrant executions, first aid, use of force investigations, discrimination training, active shooter training, taser training, and more.

In other matters, the board:

• Announced the hiring of William Hall to replace Jeff Williamson on the Planning and Zoning Board.

• Unanimously approved a conditional use permit and site plan for Cameron Hartley on E. Church Road.

• Unanimously approved the rezoning for John Herring at 1011 Gluckstadt Road (R2 to C1 A).
