RIDGELAND — Longtime Ridgeland City Clerk Paula Tierce is set to retire after two decades.

Aldermen accepted Tierce’s resignation during their meeting on June 3. Her retirement is effective June 30.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the City of Ridgeland and its residents over the past 20 years,” Tierce said in a statement. “I am deeply grateful for the trust and support of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. I am extremely grateful to the dedicated city staff who made every day meaningful.”

Mayor Gene F. McGee praised Tierce for her long service to the city.

“God bless her,” McGee said during the board meeting.

Tierce said that while she is looking forward to retirement, she will cherish the friendships and memories from her time with the city.

"It has truly been wonderful watching the city of Ridgeland grow, and I am so blessed in having been a part of something so great," she said.

Angela E. Richburg has been named the new City Clerk and will begin her duties on July 1.
