Thousands expected at Euro Fest

RIDGELAND — Euro Fest is the perfect event for European auto enthusiasts and once again thousands are expected for the 14th annual show here that starts on Friday at the Renaissance.

Founder Mike Marsh said the 14th Annual Renaissance Euro Fest Classic European Auto & Motorcycle Show is going to be the best ever.

“Right now, we have around 115 cars entered which is a little more than usual, and we’re going to have some fabulous weather,” he said. “We’ve got cars made in five different European countries coming and contestants coming from eight different states.”

Euro Fest starts Friday, Sep. 30, and lasts until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The show is open to all European marques with no registration fees and is free to the public.

More than 100 participants are coming from 10 different states, including Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

Marsh noted the cars being shown off this year are from countries like Germany, England, Italy, France, and Sweden, along with some vintage motorcycles.

Marsh started Euro Fest in 2008, and since that time British, Italian, German and many other European vehicles have graced the walkways of the Renaissance during the festival for spectators to observe.

He said the inspiration for the festival struck him when he visited the Renaissance in 2008 and noticed there were no events or shows of any kind in the area specifically for European cars.

Due to his love for collecting these vintage vehicles, Marsh wanted to bring that love to Ridgeland and thought the Renaissance was the perfect place to do it. The Renaissance gave him an opportunity, and he said they have been pleased with it for the last 12 years.

This year they will have a drive on Friday out to Reunion starting about 3 p.m., Marsh said.

After the drive they will be holding a reception at Lee Micheal’s Fine Jewelry at 5 p.m., followed by an Italian buffet dinner at Enzo Osteria at the Renaissance.

Marsh recommended any spectators who are interested in viewing all the cars on display should get to the Renaissance by 7 a.m. Saturday morning for pictures.

He said Euro Fest is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beauty of British, Italian, German, and many other European vehicles and brands such as Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen, Ferrari, Porsche, Land Rover, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Daimler, Jaguar, Norton, Ducatti, Royal Enfield, Mercedes Benz, and BMW.

“Winners of their respective category and class get a ribbon colored according to their place and a trophy,” Marsh said. “Come on out and see the cars.”

The Renaissance is located at 1000 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland.
