RIDGELAND — Developers announced Tuesday that an upcoming Ridgeland hotel at Township at Colony Park, the first of its kind in the state, reached a significant construction milestone with the completion of the building's preliminary structural framework with the placement of its final steel beam.

Kerioth Corporation, headquartered in Ridgeland, announced the topping out of a construction milestone of Mississippi's first AC Hotel by Marriott in Ridgeland's The Township at Colony Park, a mixed-use project developed by Kerioth.

Clint Herring, Kerioth Corporation president, and chief executive officer said that the hotel is "conveniently" located on Township Avenue, the hotel will neighbor Kerioth's corporate headquarters as well as four additional hotels within the Township.

The hotel broke ground in March 2019 and is slated to open early next year.

"We are pleased with the significant progress made on the Marriott AC Hotel in The Township at Colony Park," Herring said. "Ahead of opening early next year, we are excited that we will be providing future guests this special European flair experience."

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee said that the hotel will be an asset to the city moving forward.

"It is a great facility and will be a piece of the continued economic growth of the city," McGee said.

The AC Hotel by Marriott will be the fifth hotel in the development.

Upon completion, the hotel will feature 132 rooms and suites situated on five floors. Herring described the lobby bar as "sleek and modern" and will provide "guests the opportunity to unwind." The bar will serve creative cocktails and light bites.

Additionally, the hotel will feature 1,050 square feet of meeting space Herring says will be great for business travelers and event planners alike.

Brent Barron, of Barron Studio Architects in Jackson, is serving as the architect for the AC Hotel Ridgeland. Kerioth is both developing and performing as the general contractor. The hotel will be managed by McKibbon Hospitality, a Florida based company.

The hotel will join a host of new and existing businesses at the Township.

The Township at Colony Park also includes approximately 160,000 square feet of retail space; approximately 130,000 square feet of Class A office space; and four other hotels.
